Regatta Racing
America's Cup Charter's 12 Meters race in many organized regattas each season. Our racing regattas fall into three general categories: major regattas, private regattas and fundraising regattas. Each type of regatta requires a different level of sailing experience.
We had a busy and successful 2011 regatta season. Many were here in Newport, but we also traveled to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Bridgeport and Greenwich, CT and Manhattan for racing. Major Regattas
These are events generally sailed under the organizational authority of a yacht club or entity such as Sail Newport, and are available to qualified charterers and their team. Yachts typically utilize full racing sail, including maximum sized over lapping genoas and spinnakers where applicable. These regattas demand the highest level of sailing experience, skill and athleticism of any of our events, necessitating a well rounded and fit crew. A practice day is required prior to racing.

Private Regattas
These are usually corporate outings or inter-yacht club challenges and are sailed with two or more yachts and require no prior sailing experience. For corporate groups, running their own 'Cup Regatta is a spectacular venue for entertaining clients or Teambuilding with the company. Whether co-workers or customers, racing the 'Twelves require teamwork and communications that result in lasting friendships. Fundraising Regattas
We partner with several nonprofit organizations each summer to coordinate fundraising regattas that utilize our America's Cup Twelves as fundraising vehicles. These regattas provide exciting 12 Meter sailing and competitive forum vailable to participants from novice through expert sailing ability.
