Sailing Legend "Tuna" Wullschleger
Arthur “Tuna” Wullschleger passed away on November 25th at the age of 94. Tuna was the father of Nefertiti’s Sears Wullschleger and a legend in the world of sailing. He was admired and appreciated for his many years of “behind the scenes” work for the sport. Tuna was an accomplished ocean racing sailor who went on to work onshore for multiple America’s Cup Campaigns in logistics and organization. What was probably his greatest contribution to sailing however, was his work in defining the role, and serving as, an umpire for yacht races.
Other accomplishments include participation in the founding of Block Island Race Week and service as Commodore of the Larchmont Yacht Club. US Sailing has named the Tuna Fund in his honor. May he rest in sailor’s heaven.
